We know you guys have the best ideas for articles- submit and vote on ideas here!

Be specific and try to pinpoint concepts that you want to know more about or clever ideas that you think would be awesome to see on the blog.

What would you like to see an article on?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  2. Building a Vibe

Interested to see tips on how to build a vibe and maintaining continuity throughout a set. How do you practice this? I am into deep/tech house and even with a decently sized library I still have trouble finding tracks that vibe well together and then, when I do, they are more often than not so far off either in key or in BPM that they don't mix together well. That is to say that I can find tracks that could be played in the same set, but have trouble finding two tracks (or more importantly three) that can mix well…

  3. Workflow - Process of Adding a New Tune

Would love to see an article on how Ean and/or the other staff writers add new music to their collection from download to set ready. What file type do you prefer (WAV, AIFF, Mp3, etc.)? Where do you save it?
What programs do you run the songs through? How do you tag your tracks? Do you genre tag it and put it in a crate right away, or no?

Would be great to have a video and/or supporting checklist that starts with downloading a new track and ends with the track being ready to use in a live performance. I…

  4. SongKeyBPM.com: A song database website with key, bpm, and a whole lot more information. Plus a great song recommendation algorithm for DJs.

    http://songkeybpm.com

I recently deployed this website and posted about it in the DJ subreddit. I got a lot of positive responses and it ended up becoming one of the top 100 all time posts. Here is the link to the post: https://www.reddit.com/r/DJs/comments/6j469y/i_made_a_song_database_website_with_key_bpm_and_a/

SongKeyBPM.com provides you with song information for a massive library of music. It gives you key, bpm, and even values like how danceable or happy a song is.

Also it recommends stylistically compatible tracks that have similar bpms and keys which should mix well together.

The advantage of songkeybpm.com over other ways of determining key and bpm, and…

  6. Online DJ Scratch courses

    Hi,

Can you do a new review of the online DJ Scratch courses available on the internet? Your previous reviews were very good (view link below) but is now outdated as the School of Scratch course by DJ Emma Short-E is now more comprehensive and at $799! Also, Q-Bert's course is now apart of ArtistWorks University and seems to be quite professional. Plus, there are some others since you did your last review, e.g. Skratch Bastid. I would like to know the value for money of DJ Short-E course ($799) vs Q-Bert at ArtistWorks University ($279). Thanks. Zak.

  8. midi fighter 64 >> lower half arcade buttons, upper half twister knobs?

When I use effects in live 9, I map to knobs. Clips launch from buttons. Having both knobs and buttons on the same control surface would be great for my needs.

  9. KRFT modular instrument

    http://studioamplify.com/krft-next
KRFT is a modular instrument for expressive music production that we built to challenge the two decade old paradigm of the multi-track DAW.

Designed from the ground up with a focus on live experimentation and expressive interactions, KRFT will inspire you to make music that would normally be out of reach.

Rather than being confined to a fixed interface KRFT lets you create a surface that suits your musical needs whether you're building an experimental groove box or composing an entire track.

Use it standalone with its powerful internal audio engine or with your studio & MIDI enabled gear,…

  10. More complete intro walkthroughs and live support

It was recently stated, but being brand new to Ableton and Traktor has been an awesome, but trying to figure everything else with so much diluted info hasn't been. As far as I have searched, there does not seem to be a "one stop shop," for beginners. There is a ton of information here, but it does not seem to be the easiest to find, even though there is a beginner DJ tab. My suggestion is to have an entire page, that does not change unless the software or hardware changes, guiding new DJ's to the proper information. Beyond this,…

Ive seen channels like Eton Messy and how they started. If I wanted to start a channel of songs I like, my guess is that this is illegal. And yet there are so many channels like this. Can DJTT shed light on this? Im too scared to start something even though its just for my friends to see what im listening to...

  12. Soundlcloud reposting business, and the mixcloud screw-job; how to buy pretend respect from silicone.

This would be a balls out immersive piece where the article will convey the schemes, scams and fraud that is Soundcloud reposting and Mixcloud Boosting. There exists a group of people who are illegally profiting from the insecurities that folks endure while producing art. This is a crime that ought be dealt with post haste. Gulags for all. I have had several nasty run ins with these lowlifes and have the emails to prove it and the appreciation of Mixcloud;s practices to say with no doubt that they are commiting wire fraud every day. This is a possible indictment with…

  13. Senior Project. Kid with autism from NC, USA attempts to break into the music industry

When I was 10, I first learned to play guitar by ear and since then, I've picked up 10+ instruments out of curiosity. I'm taking on DJing as a modern approach to the industry. My goal is to understand how to personally apply all the information I've learned from this site from collaboration to promotion to working with venues. If anyone reads this who's from the area, feel free to leave a comment about playing venues with me this year. I will not turn anyone down based off genre or popularity, but skill does matter.

  18. SOUNDCAST - A PORTAL FOR UNTAPPED MUSIC PRODUCERS ACROSS THE GLOBE, TO PUT THE LIGHT ON UNDISCOVERED.

Soundcast has started as a need for the hour initiative. After being active members of the Dance music community in India for over 5 years, ranging from upcoming producer to offline ticketing partners, we were exposed to the various shortcomings of the network. From getting a new producer's track heard at a record label through the massive pool of talent to getting the correct backstage story of the Industry, problems are many, solutions far too less. With a very young and engaging audience waiting to hear a different story about their Artists, open to exploring new artists for their music and…
