Be specific and try to pinpoint concepts that you want to know more about or clever ideas that you think would be awesome to see on the blog.

What would you like to see an article on?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  3. The effect that inhouse music systems have on DJing and live music in the industry

    Hey everyone,

Something that is really burning my p!ss is the Night Life music system in Australia. In my local area it has become detrimental to the music scene, to the point you could almost say it is working more successfully for the venues than DJ's and live musicians. Now I know what everyone is going to say is "Well that's your own fault". Well here is my argument.

How can 1 genuine hardworking and devoted DJ/Entertainer compete against a music system that has been unrolled into almost every venue in the country?

How can we be there 24 hours…

  4. DJing with Ableton Live

There hasn't yet been a tutorial on how to mix in Ableton Live. I'm talking about Djing with 2 to 4 decks playing and using hardware such as an X1 or Allen & Heath. I have been doing this for a couple of weeks now and could definitely have used a tutorial to better teach me how to go about it.

  5. Midi Fighter with two USB-Midi OUTs

We work in a theatre and always have a backup Computer during the show, we would love to trigger both computers with one Midi-Controller (with the same buttons), thats why we would love to see the Midi Fighter having a second USB-Midi output.
Next to the advantage controlling the backup computer you can also trigger totally different sounds/cues/videos with one controller.

  8. Serato vs Traktor

You already did a great article on this previously, but now it's a bit dated. With so much that has changed, I think an updated version would be great!

  9. id3 tagging software and best practices

I was wondering if you could discuss the best software and the best practices of cleaning up and tagging your id3 tags in your music. Currently I am using itunes to create playlists, import songs to traktor, and clean id3 tags. however, I have found that the id3 tags I clean in itunes do not seem to carry with the music file. This means if i take a set on a jump drive to someone else's computer the id3 tags that i have cleaned in my itunes is no longer present.

I would appreciate any advice for software that writes…

  11. How to use TouchOSC on iPad to augment S4/S2 Controller?

I would like to learn how to more effectively use TouchOSC in conjunction with my S4 to control effects or groups of effects (the DJTT S4 custom mapping, for instance) to give more flavor to my DJ sets.

I don't want to use it to replace my controller, those options are rather intuitive in the general TouchOSC templates. I want to learn how to use it as another tool in my DJ arsenal of tricks and instruments. (this may include alternate templates, unless you can use the ones provided. But here is a huge template set I found: http://www.ipad-dj.noelc.com/ipad-dj/4-deck-iPad-TouchOSC-Traktor-control.html )

  12. Key Detection Software Comparison 2016 Edition

With the release of MIK 8 and most other key detection algorithms undergoing some form of major upgrade over the past year, I feel like it would be beneficial to compare them once again.

  13. More complete intro walkthroughs and live support

It was recently stated, but being brand new to Ableton and Traktor has been an awesome, but trying to figure everything else with so much diluted info hasn't been. As far as I have searched, there does not seem to be a "one stop shop," for beginners. There is a ton of information here, but it does not seem to be the easiest to find, even though there is a beginner DJ tab. My suggestion is to have an entire page, that does not change unless the software or hardware changes, guiding new DJ's to the proper information. Beyond this,…

  15. How much to charge as a DJ in clubs/school dances and maybe how much to charge for someone borrowing your production or DJ equipment

this goes hand in hand with pursuing DJing as a Teen by making a business but I am just getting started and am not sure how much to charge for parties or middle school dances and also there are some people who want to rent my production gear and I also am not sure about that either.

  16. Genre Jumping Techniques

I love to bounce from house to breaks to slower tempo mombahton, but I feel my mixes are getting stale and sometimes I'm just beat matching and hoping for the best. How about some cool techniques for seamless vibe changes that don't kill the floor?

  17. Tutorial on how to use the Midi Fighter Spectra with Ableton Live

A video tutorial on different ways to set up and use the Midi Fighter with Ableton Live. I. e. live recording a finger drum routine or how to assign it to be the piano roll for keyboard emulation. In general just fun ways you can use the Midi Fighter in your production workflow with Ableton.

  18. Advantages & disadvantages of differant DJ Software ie comparison between Traktor/ Serato/ Cross/ One/ Ableton etc etc

There have been many discusions in the forums about I'm switching from this or I'm fed up with this, anyone used this etc etc I feel it would be beneficial to compare with pros and cons all the DJ software that is on the market at the moment
