  2. How to use effects to get better crowd reaction - guide

There is a huge list of effects (on Traktor at least), and it is hard to decide when and why to use them in order to make an impression on the crowd. It is not hard to apply an effect on your mix, the hard part is to apply the effect at the right time in order to obtain best results. I know this can very well be something that every DJ does and it becomes somewhat of a characterizing part of his/her style, but there is a general consensus on a number of technics that can be thought of…

  4. StudioFeed: The SubPac

StudioFeed is a company based out of Toronto, Canada currently designing a new piece of unique production hardware. The 'SubPac' is essentially a physical component that can be attached to any form of seat. When connected to an audio source, the device will emulate the intense sub frequencies frequently found in a club or large venue setting. This allows producers so further develop their sounds/mixes to suit the venues in which their aspiring to play, it also is a beneficial aid to the deaf community as it enables the interpretation of sound through vibrations. The product is currently running a…

  6. the process of creating a controllerist routine - song/loop selection, which parts to mix together, etc.

How you think of a controllerist routine, which songs to use together and why, how to prepare different samples and sections, basically the whole process behind making your own routines.

  9. Review: Liquid Rhythm by WaveDNA

Liquid Rhythm is a software drum machine that enables rapid beat-building and provides tools for deep MIDI manipulation. It uses a 'building-blocks' approach that allows groups of notes to be inserted, moved, accented, or otherwise altered all at once. The unique MIDI visualization, using colors and shades to indicate metric weighting ('downbeats vs offbeats'), shows which notes share important relationships that can be changed together (or 'in concert' with one another).

The Liquid Rhythm system can also generate lists of suggested beats built out of sets of similar or related building-blocks for inserting quick variations on the fly. Deeper features…

  10. An article with a toutorial on making DIY MIDI brains/PCBs

An article that fully explains how to make/design MIDI brains/PCBs for people who what to break the limits of the few MIDI brains out there and bring out new ideas for the MIDI world.
    this article could include:

a full explenation of how a brain/PCB works

a list of parts a brain/PCB can have (and what they do)

a simple video on how to make one e.g soldering, placing etc etc could be awesome (this video could be made by the guy who designed the MIDI fighter PCB)

all of this in a language we can all understand ;P

  13. DJTT mapping updates - It'd be nice to see some.

It would be nice if DJTT updated their mappings more often (especially MF mappings), instead of relying on the user community to update them. They release a new mapping and tout how they'll be updating it, but that rarely happens. At a minimum bug fixes would be nice, but updating their mappings to reflect new Traktor functionality (e.g. macro FX) would be nice too.

  14. How to approach record labels & get your tracks singed.

It would be great to do a article on the do's and don't of how to go about getting your tracks signed to a record label.

Maybe you can get some inside advise form big artists and top labels.

Also you should include a pice on some new creative ways to approach this task.
And for all the new producers like my self it will also be solid if this article gave a brief intro on how the music industry works, in terms of record deals, track signing and copy rites and so on.

The method of emailing your track…

  16. Review: Junglator - Interactive Jungle & Drum'n'Bass for iPhone

I'm getting in touch as I think you might be interested in Junglator, an app we've just just released at Amplify. It's an interactive Jungle & Drum'n'Bass app which would appeal to music lovers and DJs.

Our aim is to create accessible and exciting iOS music apps and we think Junglator is a great example of this.

You can see a promo video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFq0jd5QcZs

The app is easy to get into, but provides depth for users who want to master it. Currently three tracks are provided and we plan to add more as DLC going forwards.

    I hope you…

  18. Mad Zach's Finger drumming chords

I have difficulties following the finger drumming course by Mad Zach. The problem is that the video tends to freeze up everytime even though the audio keeps on playing. I have a suggestion to make.
Why don't you label the midi fighter buttons from 1-16 in a logical way. For example,

Bottom row left to right, label 1-4.
2nd bottom row from left to right, label 5-8
2nd top row from left to right, label 9-12
top row from left to right, label 13-16.

Then for every sound exercise, eg: Sound 1

    6,6,6,6 [6+1] 6,6,6, [6+3]

    In this way, it…

  19. Makey Makey: make your own midi controllers out of anything that conducts electricity

There is this really cool/cheap kit called makey makey which allows you to control your computer using anything that conducts electricity. For instance you could draw out a grid on a piece of paper alligator clip each square to makey makey and you have yourself a midi controller! Check it out http://www.makeymakey.com/

  20. Next MIDI mapping - NI Maschine

I love the series on MIDI mappings, and I think DJTT can be a great library of the best mappings.

I can supply a few Maschine mappings I have collected from around the web, and have helped to develop and you can choose one for the next MIDI mapping release in your weekly/monthly feature.
